Route 66 Metal Highway Signs

Vintage, Nostalgic and 100% Authentic

Historic US route 66, America's highway, was once America's most traveled and well-marked highway and fondly referred to as the mother road.

Route66Vintage US highway metal sign markers along Route 66 were designed to last a lifetime and made of deep embossed, 16-gauge metal steel that was enamel painted and baked.

Authentic, antique metal signs for Route 66 have a nostalgic value that is quite simply, difficult to put a price on, especially the vintage Route 66 metal signs. These antique metal signs are like contemporary art pieces of our early American heritage.

Only about 85% of the mother road remains drivable. The old Route 66 Highway is no longer well marked with those vintage, heavy gauge, antique metal road signs.

In areas where organizations and historic Route 66 advocates have posted new Route 66 highway sign markers, Route 66 souvenir hunters tend to steal most of these collectible metal signs.

But, here at Crossroads Signs, you can get your own high-quality steel, authentic Route 66 sign without stealing it. See our selection of Route 66 State Signs >

Memories of my trips on old Route 66, the segments that still remain.  Factual information about Highway 61, Route 99, the Lincoln highway.  My music covers the myriad of versions of Route 66, and the music of Dylan, Clampton, Robert Johnson, and many other blues artists.

I will also give up tales of what inspired many of my signs.  A very twisted mind resides in my head.
